how to make a custom install trunk..when you have no workshop?!
so, heres the deal. I finally got all the parts for my new setup...but I live in an apartment... I have no shop to work in... I want to build a custom trunk but I have pretty much no where to do it...
the dilemma I have is that I need a place to mount (2) hifonics amps that wont look ugly as hell?
ideas?! how expensive would it be to have a car audio place make a new trunk floor out of mdf/carpet?

This may sound stupid to you but its just an idea. If you area just looking for a garage type area to make it in. Find your local "Pay-to-store" place and use that. Like the places that look like hundreds of garages that people just store extra crap in. You'll have space to move around, space to leave the stuff overnight and lock up. Usually electrical outlets. You'll have to get yourself some saw horses or something obviously and get some tools, but that would be a good area to do it.
If you just gonna have a box you can just get some boards cut to go in the rear of the back seats and mount your amps to that. You can measure it out then go to Home Depot and they'll cut whatever type of wood you want to that size for like a quarter a cut. Then just bring em to the car and slide 'em in the back and mount your amps to them.
spell check pwns you

I didn't have access to a workshope either so I built my custom trunk (pics in my gallery) in my parents' basement when I lived there...actually in the laundry room, I had the MDF precut when I bought it at Home Depot just so it would fit in the back of my buddy's CRV. I took the biggest slab and laid it on top of the dryer then borrowed my friend's jigsaw to cut the rough design then smoothed it off with my dremel. I had the rectangular pieces used for the sub box laser-cut at Home Depot a couple of days later, then I used a router to cut out the "lip" for my clear "Visonik" plate (just a small piece of lucite with a Visonik decal on it). My gf upholstered the thing with vinyl, pillow stuffing, and a staple gun. Took me a few weeks, but the money I saved as well as the satisfaction of finishing my own trunk were very much worth the wait. It's not pro-quality, but it does look different and I'm pretty proud of it.
