2012 Civic LX headlights switched???
2012 Civic LX headlights switched???
2012 civic LX. Bought 2 weeks ago, low beams have been extremely dim almost unseeable and I’ve tried everything. Even took to mechanic with no fix. I read on tons of forums and people said their low beams are 9006 and high beams 9005. Why the hell are my low beams 9005? I thought the low/high connector latches might have been switched and that was affecting the brightness but the white latch (currently on my high beams) doesn’t reach nearly far enough to the low beam entrance, which currently has 9005’s sitting in it because when I bought 9006’s they didn’t fit in the low beam. Any clue?
For example, the bulb closest to my grille is always on. I assume these are my lows. When I go one notch up on my headlight switch, the yellow indicators turn on in the front. When I go to the third and final notch, the bulb closest to my grille gets 2x brighter, the middle one turns on as well but half as bright, and the yellow indicators are also on. What is happening here?

The bulbs closest to the grille are your high beams. With the head lights off they run at half power as your daytime running lights. Position 1 is your parking lights (front indicators and taillights). Position 2 is when the lowbeams come on (highbeams should be off). Pushing the stalk forward should turn the highbeams on at full power.

This is how it currently is:
Position 1 (default when starting car): High beams are at half power. Nothing else on.
Position 2: High beams still half power. Low beams OFF. Yellow indicators on.
Position 3: All 3 on. High’s at full power now, low beams on, yellows on.
So none of the positions are solely my low beam which is my problem. How do I fix this? Someone on reddit said it’s either bad headlight stick entirely or possibly faulty pigtail connectors to the bulbs. Do you agree it’s one of those? Any other potential issues you think it could be? I’ll likely order a new shaft and pigtails just to be safe.

somebody might have messed up the wiring before you bought the car...
especially because the connectors are different between those two bulbs...

At position 3 is the high beam indicator on in the dash?
Does pushing the stalk forward and back change anything with the high beams?
