Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
Ok guys so I changed my head gasket last night got everything done waited till this morning to take her for a spin and it won't barley do 40mph..or past 3k.....fires up fine idles fine...hot heat cold air, full of oil, brand new distributor plugs wires fill of high test gas .....it ran fine before just lost water due to the head gasket ,reason I changed it...checked timing 10 times it's dead on....alsp no cel light....i dunno wth i did wrong....any suggestions? Or ideas
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
Yea sir checked it all, and ran multiple checks with my computer zero codes...at this point im about to remove the crank pully and check the timing mark on the crank see if I got it right. ..i used the farthest line to the right on the pully for my timing...is that right?...also used a screwdriver to check tdc so it should be right but I'm about take pully off anyway
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
Yea did that to,got the old one on it now, still starts right up idles fine and revs to 3k..thats it...im about to pull the crank pully...see if I'm in timing, next thing I can think of is the ecu may have went bad?
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
well my impact won't take the crank bolt off..ugh...so I'm purty sure I have it in timing anyway....i used the mark that over by itself not the 3 that are together. .is that correct? Also that mark is where it landed when I used a screwdriver in the plug hole to find tdc...man I'm stumped on this thing ,still won't pass 3k
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
so I've been googling everything I can think of and i think it may be the crankshaft tdc position sensor, this is gona be my next step even though i don't have any codes...this may just be it , fingers crossed ima pick one up tomro after work along with a borrowed impact gun that will remove the darn crank bolt. Sigh
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
well I decided to check the voltage at the plug to the cps and with the key on testing the harness sideI'm only getting. .4 volts...that can t be right...right?. Also I do have resistance on the sensor itself so it's good or should be...someone know what or why I'm not getting 12v..?
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
So that was a no go..still only revs 3k or so ,i did notice on my computer it's only advancing the timing like 3degree or so when i floor it....whats up with that?
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
I've searched the whole engine bay, nothing pinched or unhooked as far as I can tell,I do and have worked on cars my whole life and haven't run into this problem lol,I'm about to take it to a local shop, after I change the crank sensor for the.hell of it and see what happens, just can t get the bolt loose yet ugh
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
Also put some new plugs in it , they turned soot black after just idling and reving it for a lil,and white smoke seems to come out the exhaust to when I rev it
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
No sir I removed the manifold and down pipe first thing set it to the side, ima try post a vid of it,..but it sounds like a 2step almost lol , I think it's def cuting fire to it cause brand new plugs turn black after I run it for a few min, so it's getting fuel for sure ,i been messing with it for a few days and just can't seem to find **** wrong that I may have done anyway
Re: Car won't rev past 3k or so....D16y7
