back to the OP:
stomp on your brakes (in a safe environment, of course ).
if you have ABs and the ABS comes up, you do not really needs the big brakes.
If you don't have ABS and the wheels lock-up, you don't need the big brake kit either.
If you go thorough a lot of downhill, and you feel the brakes are fading, you might need them.
If you want bling, get them!
for better braking, like gearbox reminded us, get tires.

Hell yes I do> I have 6 of em on my CBR. Each one adds +50 hp.

for the guys that did not understand the joke, most bikes have the front lever and the rear pedal, so the proportioning valve is the pilot
just a few of them offers one front disc connected to the pedal. the other disc is controlled by the lever on the handlebar. Just for info.
