2008 crv Ac issues...
As some of you know I maintain a fleet of my families cars...
2010 accord
2002 civic ex auto coupe
2003 civic lx stick sedan
1994 accord dx stick
2014 pilot (havnt had to touch that one)
My 1999 civic dx
2008 crv
2006 accord coupe
And for the non honda
2010 altima
2009 fucus (engine had to be swapped at 79k)
2012 tacoma 2.7 auto
2010 rav 4
2000 escort
Well the most fun one to work on is my mother in laws
Her Ac went out and it's hot damn hot down here in bama
It's a 2008 crv with 170k
I know it has a slow low pressure leak ever since she hit a deer and had it repaired it's been a slow leak but generally needed a recharge every other year
I put on my triple gauges to see if it's low as the low pressure sidebars nothing...
High pressure side shows pressure
I attempted to recharge it but couldn't get the compressor to come on
I assumed a low pressure switch
But to be safe and the fact that she was standing over my shoulder the whole time I didn't bipass to kick on the compressor
Well I did some online research and found that there common problem with the a clutch relay design a203 which is recommended to replace with a205 I went to my honda dealer paid the 28 for the new relay (I know i could have ordered it from majestic ) still nothing
I don't want to fire the parts cannon but I am starting to wonder if the Ac clutch has crapped out
I would bring it to the honda dealer for eval but I have to wait a week to get an appointment (yes rediculas I know)
But the Acura dealer would take it in this week
I know I am posting on the civic forum but it's a member of the honda family and I am lazy and don't want to sign up for another forum that I won't be active in

Re: 2008 crv Ac issues...
Do NOT jump the pressure thingy, it is not a switch it's a pressure sensor. You could damage expensive things if you jump it.
There's a warranty extension on the AC compressor clutch, but you are waaaay past the limit by mileage. Does not mean it's not a problem, only that you are not getting a freebie clutch.
What trim is this CRV? LX, EX, or EXL?
Auto climate control, or manual HVAC?
Does the blower fan run?
Do the radiator fans come on when you turn on the AC?
Did you replace the correct relay for the clutch? You sure?
Can you yank the relay out and test for powers and grounds in that socket?

Re: 2008 crv Ac issues...
Does the blower fan run? Yes and Ac light stays on when pressed
Do the radiator fans come on when you turn on the AC? Yes also when I turn on defrost but still no turning on
Did you replace the correct relay for the clutch? You sure? I am pretty sure but going to post the diagram of what I replaced...

No but I should

Re: 2008 crv Ac issues...
That's the right one.
Yes
OK so the system is attempting to operate.
Pull that clutch relay out, turn AC on and test for 2 powers and 2 grounds in the socket.

Then ohm test the clutch coil from the relay socket
Micro relay diagram, socket terminals 3 and 5
One should have power from a fuse, the other goes to the clutch coil.
