Oil leak mystery. It's all over the bottom of the pan.
Hey, all. So about a year ago, I went after my rear main seal because I thought it was leaking as the car was losing about a quart of oil every 10 to 15 miles of travel. I got to the seal and it did appear to be leaking out, so I replaced the seal with a Honda OEM seal and used white lithium grease to set it into place. I also put in a new clutch, new transmission mount, cleaned the EGR system, etc. Initially, the oil level stayed good, but then started dropping again, although not as dramatically as before. My heart sank and I wanted to die, but I have just been adding a quart every 75 miles or so, but I want to find the issue now. Could it be the oil pan gasket even though there is no visible oil by the oil pan seal? My engine is the 1.3L hybrid motor, so it may look a little different then the regular 1.7L. The oil is gathering near the bottom of the pan near that little inspection plate, which has me wondering if the seal was bad or I put it in wrong or maybe the oil pan gasket NEAR the rear main seal is bad. The car has over 430K miles on it.
Any help or advice is much appreciated!

Photos would be helpful.
Clean the engine really with degreaser, go for a quick lap around the block, jack it up as soon as you get home and look for leaks

Hey just seeing if you ever figured your oil leak out. I’ve got a 06 civic hybrid with just under 430k on it with an oil leak over by the transmission also. I know it’s not a rear main seal because it’s above it. I’ve replaced the valve cover gasket, Vvt solenoid gasket, and both cam plugs as all those were leaking. The only possible thing I can think of or see is oil coming from the head gasket as there really isn’t anything else that could be leaking. Has anyone else had to replace the headgasket because of oil leaks on the hybrid engine?

I did degrease and look. Hence why I’ve replaced the things that were leaking. But I still have a leak. I would suspect the rear main seal it it wasn’t physically coming from above the transmission. Most of the leak is from the back side of where the engine and trans meets and goes to the bottom. The vvt solenoid that was to the front of the engine right behind the intake manifold only had one gasket. Is there another vvt solenoid that I am missing?

One VTEC solenoid but 2 gaskets. See photo here: 2004 honda civic hybrid 1.3L VTEC solenoid gaskets - Bing images

That’s not the same solenoid on the 1.3 hybrid. The leak is coming from the top of the block mainly on the back side. Which is he opposite side of the solenoid. It won’t let me as a picture otherwise I would

same issue here, cant find the source looks like somewhere behind water outlet, where ima cables goes in...anyone?
changed cam plugs, cover gasket, vvt solenoid seal, can oil leak be from headgasket? car runs fine,no pressure in radiator,or oil mix with antifreeze, just bad oil leak.

Does the 1.3 have the rear (blank) cam seal, like the D17s? That sounds like the general area of the engine if the seal would leak if you have one. That will leak only when the engine runs, it is an easy fix if you have the right part and know to check it.
