If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

The thing under this back seat.
It has a crack. I'm leaking fuel.
Pic is from an Odyssey but it shows the general area the cracks form in, the raised roundish area.
If it's leaking from the round disc area on top of that tank unit (see image), you might want to contact the NHTSA
(https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/)
and report it as a defect. This is what one of the current recalls on Odyssey vans is for (the only one I've witnessed leaking so far came from Arizona....I'm up in the rust belt...).

(02 and 05 SI hatchback both use the same pump assembly part number)

i found the part thank to you guys!!! it is called fuel pump filter ***." or i also found it under "fuel pump module ***." it is difficult to find it. I guess its supposed to be a lifetime part, but not under any types of warrenties. and buying a replacement is around $300 (which i currently do not have). however the used one i found was $50. i figure i can use the used one to get it back on the road and in a few months after saving the $300+ i need to get one, i will. thanks for listing the part number that helped to most. now all i have left is to take the old one out and put the new one in. the only part of the process i'm not confident with is the fuel line. i disconnect it from the pump while the car is running to drain the line correct? otherwise i spray gasoline everywhere. i'll let you know how it goes!!

Unplug the pump wiring connector with the engine running.
Let the engine die, then disconnect the fuel line.
There will still be a little pressure so cover it with a rag before you disconnect it.

Oh my thank you. I could only imagine the mess i would have made. Not to mention the risk of gasoline everywhere. Undo the plug first, let it die, then the hose. Then i can do the swapping. I plug everything back in whole the car is off, then **** a few times and vroooooom. Hopefully. Without leaks. :-) I'm glad i asked.
