My daughter went off roading with her 08 Civic DX 1.8Liter and cracked the oil pan. I've removed the thousand bolts that hold the dozens of brackets and finally all of the pan bolts. I broke the RTV loose and it moves independent of the block. it seems to be stuck to the tranny.
Questions
Are there steel dowels between the tranny and pan that could be corroded and holding me up?
If not what else am I overlooking?
Some say the sub-frame has to be loosened to get it down. True or not?
Tig weld the crack or get a Dorman replacement?
It came off. I'm thinking the SI might have a different pan that needs the sub frame lowered. I was being a little too gentle and the Honda Bond was holding on for dear life. Any Idea what the torque spec is on the pan bolts? Does the ECM shut the engine off if the oil pressure goes to zero?
It shut off about an eighth of a mile from home the next day. I put in 4 quarts and it ran fine back home. There was a tiny amount of swarf in the sump but none in the filter. The plan is to change the oil after a short time idling up to temp. Then inspect the oil and filter, add new oil and filter, and hope for the best.
WOW there is a lot to remove before the pan comes off.

Re: Oil Pan loose but will not come off
Snug, they're little tiny bolts, use a 1/4" drive ratchet. Hopefully you didn't get any major damage, not sure if the engine will shut off automatically.
Thanks for that diagram. I got it back together tonight. 3 1/2 hours. 45 minutes was the serpentine belt. Gonna give the Honda Bond 24 hours to set. Flush and refill tomorrow followed by some crossed fingers that no damage was done .
Well I flushed the engine with some cheap Walmart oil and filter. There wasn't any more swarf in the oil or filter. Then refilled it with the good stuff and filter. I'm going to be stressed out for the next few weeks. I figure that is when it's going to live or die.
Just an update
Several months and a few thousand miles later all is well. I just changed the oil again and it came out clean. My guess is that Honda cuts the ignition or fuel when the oil pressure goes below a certain point.
