carpool lane

whenever im in the carpool lane, i drive at around 85mph, but people tailgate me and flip me off now, my dad drives around 70-75mph (in his suv) in the carpool lane, and people never tailgate him or flip him off. is this just a civic thing? lol

so anyways, my questions are:

does the speed limit apply to the carpool lane?

am i driving too slow for the carpool lane?

and can the carpool lane be used as a passing lane? i see this everyday. people just going into the carpool lane (when its still the double yellow lines) and using it as a passing lane. it scares the crap outta me when someone enters the carpool lane in front of me like that.

The Posted Speed Limit is the Max, Last time I checked there was a minimum fine for violations in the carpool lane $250.00 here in Cali, and that's just the base, so if you were going 85 and got pulled over it will cost you probably $500-$600.

Welcome to California :-) especially on like the 210 out where you are, there is so much traffic I see people darting in and out of the CP lane quite a bit. they are in violation of the law, but the reality is there is not enough enforcement for that kind of thing. The one thing I know that you are allowed to do is in an emergency youcan use the carpool lane to avoid an accident, that kind of thing.

I don't like how we have carpool lanes in CA set out, witht he double yellows, if someone is going slow in the CP lane, it just pisses everyone off, and encourages the unsafe common practice of waiting until there's a CP enter / exit dotted white to try to pass the person on the right while accellerating well beyond 90 if you are in a hurry.
