eh just trying to give you some insight. There's more money in software then hardware. Only industry you can still make some decent money on hardware is in defense where all the hardware needs to be produced domestically.
Getting into there is difficult but once your in, its a pretty sweet job to have. But even those guys make less then the software guys within the same company.

ME's start out at 50k ...ce's start at 60k. My ce friend got a promotion and makes around $80k now. My friend got the position because company is making the older engineers retires since there pensions are too big. The company doesn't want them to build anymore in the pension.
Its kinda funny though...everyone there is either in there 20's or late 40 or 50's. There's no one in there 30's or early 40's...because all the cut backs from the 90's under clinton. Its like a whole generation of engineers didnt' go into the industry.
This is from talking with my friends that work at northrep, raytheon and boeing as engineers.
