****!!!! I need both front control arms replaced....bushings gone one the driver side....anyone replace control arms before? Is it hard?!?! Shop wants to charge me 200 bucks for both front control arms done. Seems like a lot to me...

just buy new lcas for both sides. they come with the bushings already on. lcas are pretty simple to do, u just need the right tools....

Ok nevermind. Mr. Mechanic sais that i need new bushings instead. I read up on it and it looks like alot of shops replace the whole control arm instead of the bushings even if its only the bushing that need to be replaced because they need to use a press to install the bushing into the control arm. So far most people recommend buying energy bushings since OEM bushing usually only last around 60k miles since they are made of rubber. So my question to my So Cal family is where i can buy energy bushings for cheap (online or somewhere local)?? and where can I find a shop in So Cal to install the bushings only?? Im hoping its going to be a lot cheaper than 200 bux (from the original mechanics quote for replacing both control arm assemblys).

ur gonna need a press or some vice grips, 200 bucks for labor only for 2 front bushings sounds a tad bit expensive - but if its 200 bucks+labor+oem parts, then thats way cheap. I recently did 2 OEM front bushings, 2 OEM motor mounts + labor for 400.

it depends on wut u can afford. oem costs more then aftermarket. as for tools, jack/jackstands, hammer, ball joint seperator, tool set.

actually, i would'nt really call installing rear lcas easy, it takes alot of patience. front lcas are way easier than rear lcas. i should know, cause i've done both

Actually the quote for 200 was for installing both control arms. Because some shops will either only do the control arm install or the bushing install. I guess because some shops dont have a press. So im gunna end up getting energy front LCA bushings for around 40 bux. Does anyone know how much for a bushing install only or any shops I can go to for a quote?
