Does heat afftect NA Cars more than FI cars?

I went to the track last night. It was hotter then hell! 87 degrees at 10pm with 70% humidity. Anyway the best i could do was 16.8 with a 2.5 60ft. I just gave up after a few runs. I was soaked in sweat, disgusted and saw no further point in subjecting my car to such abuse. If I had a better 60ft i could have gotten mid 16's but i was hopin for at least high 15's with my new mods. AEM V2, Kamikaze header and Tanabe SMR. I ran 16.9 stock but the temp was around low 70's. MY wife ran 17.4 in her auto ex last time. This time she couldn't get under 18. On the other hand this guy with a supercharged MINI S ran 15.5 last time and he did the same last night. He also ran a 17.0 and 16.8 because he said his intercooler was heatsoaked. I think because it was so hot the short ram V2 I have was sucking in hot air and killing my performance. Any opinions? I thought I heard that heat affects NA cars more than FI cars. Is that true?

Heat affects FI more then NA as FI is cramming more of the warm air into the motor. Heat does hurt performance on all engines though, with temps like you had at the track, power will suffer.

Yeap F.I w/o proper or a good intercooler setup sucks in heat. It tends to go on limp mode or heat soak.

The Mini Cooper S with that MINI intercooler will easily get heatsoaked in that temp when pushin it that hard... also.. after the V2, I felt my car became more temp sensative.

My car is NA, and weather conditions affect it noticably. Particularly, humidity and hot weather make it run like crap. It got cooler tonight, and boy was the engine happy

heat affects NA more than turbos. with superchargers and nitrous, it is the same as n/a. turbos (a lot of them) have intercoolers, so it forces cold (cool) air into your engine.

fyi, sri's and aem v2's intakes are complete **** when it comes to heat. they suck up air that is hot as ****. Tanabe SRM is not a good exhaust either (mostly hype) since the exhaust is bottle necked, so it isn't completely free flowing.

My suggestion would be to go back to the paddock, turn off the car, pop the hood, and let the engine cool down after each run. The less heat your engine is putting off will be that much less heat getting thrown back at your AEM V2.

yeah, try opening the hood between runs...
I saw in a vid, a drag Supra had ice on its intake pipe. OK... as for turbo cars, not all cars have intercoolers. And those cars are really pushin in hot air. Some have intercoolers that are on the side of the engine. (s13 SR20's). With an intercooler, things cool down a good amount. Without could get really hot. THe exhaust turbine, as we know as as hot as the exhaust gas itself, and whats next to it? The turbine that pushin in air. Plenty of hot transferred here...
I think also VTEC cars are affected more by heat than non VTEC cars... i'm not going to get into detail much but in a test between an RSX-S and a Si.. the RSX-S was down in speed and power when it gets too hot.
