megan coilover problem

hey guys
i have this weird loose clunking sound coming from the front driver side. i've checked the 17mm bolt on the coilover, perches and preload been checked almost everyday. and yet i still get that cluncking sound when it driving straight. kinda like something is loose. it sounds like its coming from the top mount. but everything is tight? i dont see any oil coming out from the coilover. so im guessing its not shot. can anyone suggest other possiblites? i've checked everything. still get the clunking sound.only when im driving and when it picks up little bumps on the road. no spring binding sound when im turning or anything? please help me fellows!!! cuz if i can't solve this problem. my coilovers are gona to the dump and just going to put back oem shocks and springs

you mean that plastic o-ring? there is but it looks like its squished to me. could that be the problem causing the coils to make clunking sound?
i've had these coils for a year and a half.. and this problem just started 3 weeks ago.. when i had to drive over some icey roads..

yah theres this other thing that i noticed that my steering wheel is slightly turned to the right a little bit. do you think this whole situation is just an alignment problem, that would cost it to make clunking loose sound/

Sorry to be tardy to the party. Perhaps the pillowballs are worn? I'm not really sure because I've had the clunk due to loose perch ring thingy and it clunkwed when turning too, which is not something you're getting. Also even though it sounds like the clunk is coming from up top, be sure to check ball joints and tie rods. A killed ball joint will clunk.

yah just checked the balljoint and tie rods. still looks good. my cars an 05 EL with 28,000kms. everything else looks good. so pretty much the pillowball is worn out.and it cost 388cdn for a replacement one. it was fine before it snowed. then i drove with with snow then ice freeze then snow again.after all those icey roads it screwed them up

That's really funny it did that, I've had my Megans about as long as yours through winter and they're still going strong. I wonder if a pillowball mount from any other company's coilovers will work, considering so many of them come frrom the same sources anyway...
