quick question about preload

if u tighten your springs it will lower your car.
tightening (compressing) the spring will in tern make the over all travel of the spring less.
if i understand what your sayin right.
you shouldnt use the term "preload" that refers to compressing a shock before opening it all the way up (jumping a bike or quad like that)

No, preloading springs does NOT alter the height. All you're doing is compressing the spring in relation to the shock so its effective rate starts out higher.
This is unless you're referring to coilovers where preloading is the method of lowering or raising the car (Tein SS or Basic, etc.....)
On coils like JIC, Tein Flex, Hayame, etc... with adjustable length shocks, the preload should not lower the car.

There is one exception however. In coils with adjustable mounts like JIC Tein Flex, if you up the preload (just in the front) too much where the spring is not loose when you jack up the car, it will start to alter the height, but not severely. Thread
