Seriously knowledgable suspension people. One Quick Question.
One question. What is the Correct Stock spring rates? Is it Indeed 6K front and 8K rear?
I was doing some searching and some ppl say the front is supposed to be a higher rate then the rear. And some people are saying vis versa.
Which is the correct setup for our 7thgencivics? I need this information to check if my D2 coil install was correct.
This thread here is the problem http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=166904

Not sure any one actually knows the Stock spring rates... but regardign spring rates, for a FWD car the Rear spring rates will tipically be higher then the fronts, and with a RWD car the fronts will typically be higher then the rear... BUT it reall depends on the car and what you are trying to get out of the car.
Also the spring rates you should be running are greatly dependant on how rough the road/tracks you run and what tires you are running (Street tires dont take well to Really High spring rates)

Would 6K front and 8K rear typically be assumed correct for a 2001 civic?
You stated "FWD" twice, pretty sure it was a typo. Which has stiffer Rear springs in general? Front Wheel Drive Or Rear Wheel Drive?

sorry... FWD will typically have heavier springs on the back.. RWD will tipically have heavier springs on the front...
6K front and 8K rear sounds resonable for a FWD car.

Another quick question. Generally, would a 8K spring be shorter then a 6K spring? Im talking to URBANIMPORT right now on aim. And that is what he is suggesting. If that is the case, then My taller spring labeled 8K is incorrect? (My 6K labeled spring was shorter then my 8K spring).

Not nessisairly, springs of any rate can come in any length... the springs strength is determined by the Diamiter of the Coil and and the thickness of the wire used to make it.... not its length.

Springs can be bought in any length, like Zzyzx said. The 8k ones are shorter because they go in the back, the rear springs in the car are smaller since the shocks are shorter (if they're full threaded body coils with length adjustable shock bodies, the lengths may all be the same) The closest we know to the stock rates are the Si rates which are about 240/450. I can just speculate that ours are softer, probably with some similar difference between front and rear rates.

im pretty sure i put the right springs on the right coils, according to its labeling. So maybe i got tall 8K springs that are supposed to be short?
If it is indeed this, maybe i will try to put my progress spring on the rear coil? since its shorter?
