Cold air intake on stock 1989 civic?

I just bought my civic yesterday (first car). I'm here to learn as much as I can because as of now, I know very little about wrenching on cars. Be prepared for a few dumb questions out of me.

Anyway, my question is; will putting a cold air intake on a stock 1989 civic engine be worth it? Will I notice a horse power difference? What kind should I get?

I just know that they're very easy to install and that it'd be a good first upgrade for me to do on my own. I also don't want to waste my money. I haven't been able to find anything by searching, so I just decided to make an account here as I will probably be asking an overwhelmingly large amount of stupid questions like this in the future. I just want to learn!

Its a DX hatchback, if that makes a difference

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your first car purchase. The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

Sure you can put a cold air intake on your car... whether it'll truly make any HP difference is debatable. I guess you have to think about what you want to achieve from modifying your car. You could look at doing a cold air intake as an easy start though.

Really though I think the only way to get real hp on an 89 civic you'd have to look at engine swap.

I dont really want to go too insane on it, just want a little more kick out of it, you know? Anything else I could do to it that's relatively easy?

not a DIY article, just a random question - thread will be moved out of DIY section.

Headers would help some along with the intake. Other mods are going to require more extensive work like camshafts (if they make aftermarket ones for that year civic).
