Spline Lugs...

Are spline lugs also like locks?
I know they are somewhat oddly shaped and they require a key of a certain size so it could theoretically serve as a type of lock, right?...as in you can't take them off with a regular socket?
In essence, I'm looking for conical lugs and locks. I know people like Rays, McGard, Bulls, and Kyokugen. What else do you guys prefer that's not expensive like Rays?
Thanks for any input

I've got a set of McGard splinedrive lugs + locking lug. Got them for $60 or so, but I can't remember where. They've worked great on my wheels.

I have the splinedrives and matching "tuner" locking nut as well on my ride (with red caps...snazzy!). Theoretically they can help prevent wheel theft but I wouldn't rely simply on the splinedrives without having a locknut. From what I see, it's possible that someone with a thin-walled socket of the right size (and perhaps a hammer?) could get them off with a regular ratchet, and it wouldn't take too long. Then again, if a thief really wants your wheels, and is experienced in doing this sort of thing, he would get your rims anyway, regardless of what locks you've got or the alarm system you installed.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll get a set of mcgard locks then...that seems to be the cheapest route with some added safety.

civicvtec1ps...do you have a part number or know what kind of lugs to get?
I searched 'mcgard' on their site and got 9 pages of mcgard lugs to look at...

also, is $1.25 a lot to be paying per spline lug?
thanks for the offer rijowysock but $1.25/lug seems to be a better deal.

oh yeah, i know it has to be 12x1.5
I'm looking at the mcgard locking lugs on summitracing and they have:
"Lug Nuts, Conical Seat with Shank..."
"Lug Nuts, Conical Seat with bulge..."
"Lug Nuts, conical seat..." etc etc etc

Any of those will work as long as it has a conical seat and it's 12x1.5?
