Front Windshield Defroster [solved]

When using the front windshield defroster it is apparent that the AC condenser is kicking on and off even though I am using it to defrost the windshield. Is this normal?

Yes. The A/C removes moisture from the air.

It doesnt make sense that the AC has to be running with the defroster in the winter so I was able to find a way to reset this issue on a youtube video which enables me to turn off the AC function when I select defrost option. This way the condenser doesnt keep kicking on and off even with the defrost temp at hot

It runs the ac so that it pulls the moisture out of the air and the windshield defogs quicker.

Re: Front Windshield Defroster [solved]

I get that for warm humid conditions but the AC was kicking on in cold weather when I wanted to Defrost not Defog the windshield. Since I posted this issue I found a way to override the AC kicking on during winter weather with the option to return the AC function when it gets warm again. Found it on YouTube under "How to Turn off AC on Defrost in 2006-2011 Honda Civic" by dp19
