'08 Civic AC suddenly not working
'08 Civic AC suddenly not working
Hi, the AC in my car became intermittently working since May then just stopped working last week. My initial thought was to get an AC recharge kit. The low pressure gauge, to my surprise, reads near 100 psi even with the AC turned on for nearly 3 minutes. Is the compressor dead? And how much am I to expect this fix will cost me?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I know this generation tends to eat compressors for some reason. Are you sure the clutch on the compressor is engaging?

Its all one belt, the clutch is the disk on the front, it should spin for a bit, then disengage, then come back on.

Re: '08 Civic AC suddenly not working
I checked today and found out it indeed is the clutch, it's not spinning. I watched a video saying a light tap may fix that, I'm going to try that first
My guess as to why this happened is probably because road bumps/pot holes. The clutch engaged once when I went through a pot hole for a short while then it never did again.
