I got a used one from a low miles wrecked car.
Anyone have the experience that the AC cools when engine is in low rpm, but doesn't cool at all when engine is above 3500rpm or drive on freeway??
And it vibate when the AC is on!!make noise too!!!

I just wanna wreck it and get he insurance!!!!Anyone want my TeinSS?

Wow. First off, the new AC systems use R134A refrigerant. It's worse than freon for cooling. My system is working okay but doesn't really get very cold. Has to be charged once already and didn't help. It's designed so that you get more cooling at higher rpms. If yours is causing so much trouble, just take it out. You'll save weight and gain some horsepower back at least.

I will take it off if I have a 2nd car. I will take out the interior too!
I used to have 91 Toyota cressida as a second car, it runs fast, can used to drift in wet road, and so comfrtable.

But just old man looking, and cost way too much to have 2 cars at the same time. SO, I sold the cressida, and use the money to fix the AC of my Civic.

It is so hot without AC in LA, and my car is black too!

I have made a few posts on the subject in the past. I use Enviro Safe refrigerant in my car. Wayyy less pressure, wear and tear, gets colder, and uses less power from the engine.
2 years and running strong.

The expansion valve is inside the AC system. It's like a thermostat. It meters in the correct amount of refrigerant into the evaporator to keep it at optimal temperature. Too little, and it does not get cold enough, too much and it freezes, at which point no air flows through. This valve opens and closes with temperature. Odd that so many are going bad. Probably black death. Common in R134 systems. For those who don't know, black death is a name given to the failure of R134 systems due to the clogging from black rubber particles eaten away from the inside of the hoses by the refrigerant. This happens ONLY with R134, because it gets very acidic. R12 did not do this. R134 systems suck big time, but it's another new way for the industry to make lots of repair money from us. R134 eats the hoses, eats holes into the condensor, and eventually destroys the compressor because it does not carry lubricant very well.

I changed my refrigerant the day I got my car. I expect it to last at least as long as I own the car. None of the caustic effects of R134, AND colder.

Read up on it, people.... R134 is DANGEROUS! Why do we have it? $$$$$$

That's terrible about what you're saying. So how hong would the stock AC last, cause I'm not gonna pay to have it fixed. I thought it would last at least 10 years.

yea.........I expected my AC to last as long as my car. But it gave me a lot of trouble!

It is possible to switch to R12 now?Or it is too late?

It's not legal to switch to R12, and you probably cannot get it anyway.

But you CAN switch to a substitute refrigerant.
This is what I use.

http://www.autocool-refrigerants.com...tm#tech%20page

Keep in mind, that most AC places won't want to do this for you. Also, this does not fix a bad system. It has to be OK to start with, but will give you much less trouble in the long run. AND you save gas, due to the lower operating pressures.

You can buy a kit to do this, but you MUST have your current system properly evacuated before you charge it. You cannot let refrigerant into the air. BIG NO-NO!!

The stock AC won't last very long with R134. Even if done with extreme care, a little moisture left from the charging process will form acid with R134. It WILL eat the system. Just a matter of time. If everyone would use Google, and read a bit, all the answers are out there. It lets you make more informed choices.

My 85 Nissan still has the original R12, and after 19 YEARS it still works like new.
It's a meat freezer! Guess what? R12 does not corrode the system.
It has also been proven that R12 is not the big problem for the Ozone that it was claimed to be, although it's also not good for it. But there is soo much money involved in all this, that R134 is great for the repair industry. The public always gets screwed. Home AC units and refrigerators use R22.... Hmmmm.... wonder why that is?

BTW, all reffrigerators and AC units in Europe use refrigerants like Enviro Safe.
R134 is NOT allowed.

Do some reading on the net. A lot of good info on the subject.

Yeah I had been noticing rattling noises when I have my air on and give a little gas. I took it to my bud from honda and he told me that my ac compreeor was going out. It stays cool not as cold as it used to be. I am over a couple hundred miles over my warranty but it is still under three years. I guess I'm going to have to complain to honda for them to get if fixed under hondas warranty.
