Hi everyone, so I have a 2011 Honda Civic LX sedan. 110,500 miles and when I turn the A/C on to the second click from full blast I hear a humming noise that is noticeably loud. Doesn't sound like its rattling but humming really loud, and weird. The sound doesn't change under acceleration nor braking nor idling. I have looked up some articles of people asking similar questions about similar problems but none of which are the same as mine. I guess I'm just hoping someone knows what I am talking about. Also while idling with the AC real low it will bog a little and then smooth out. Oh and the A/C does blow cold, like really cold. From the outside when I put my ear down in the engine bay it doesn't sound like its coming from the condenser but more so near the back of the engine, like in the dash. I hope some of this is making since to someone and I do apologize, this is my first post. Any help, answers, ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It could be the cabin air filter rattling. My Fit does it when it is on full blast. You can try removing it for a few minutes and see if the sound goes away.

The bogging down during idle is normal.

Thank you for responding! Funny story, earlier this morning before seeing your response I pulled the cabin filter out and found acorn shells in it and then i found several more in the fan beneath the filter, I pulled them all out using my phone for a good view and a pick to pull all the pieces out and now it is nice and quiet like it should sound. But awesome job nailing it on the head there, thank you very much!

And you say the bog while idling is normal? Sorry I have only owned this civic for 3 days now so I'm still learning.

^^^ You may have rodents getting inside the cabin be aware.

There is a hole in the black trim that runs along the bottom of the windshield just above the passenger side. Do you think that's where they would have gotten in?

The opening for fresh air into the blower is another entry point for them. They could screen it from the factory...... but will not.
