Hi I'm a new member. I have a ek3 civic with a d17a engine in it. Recently I had to change the engine and I replaced it with a d17z1 non vtec what am asking is if I can use the d17a brain box on the d17z1 non vtec engine?

A VTEC ECU controlling a non-VTEC engine will cause a CEL and likely limit engine speed to 3k.
