Revs high and barely moves

Hello guys I have an automatic with no check engine light and was recently driving home and came to a stop light. Once the light turned green I went to hit the gas and the car would rev to 3500-4000 rpm’s but would barely move struggling badly almost like a limp mode but still would kind of go. Kept on the gas and it would rev even higher barely making it to speed limit. I thankfully made it home and went to drive the next day and worked perfectly fine until about 2 days later it started to do the same exact thing. Car would rev super high and would barely make any movement. Noticed the car is leaking power steering fluid as my reservoir keeps getting drained within a day or 2. Need help asap. Could it be due to low power steering fluid?

No. Have you checked other fluid levels? Like coolant? Check engine light on?

Trans is probably trashed. Try doing 3 drain and fills

Yes I have checked all my other fluids and they are all good in the reservoir. There is no check engine light and nothing pops up when it does this weird slipping.

It has 180,000 miles on it and i’m not sure if the fluid has ever been flushed. Draining it would make situations worse, right?

Re: Revs high and barely moves

no, flushing finishes killing it
drain and fill 3 times is recommended honda procedure. It might extend the life a little bit
i moved to the section created for this problem, read around this section.
Yes, there is a section specific for auto trans failures in this generation cars, guess why?

Re: Revs high and barely moves

What year is the Civic?

I first thought the engine was way down on power but it does sound more like a slipping transmission.
