Hello guys,
I feel this has been answered plenty of times before but want to reach out. I've seen tons of threads on here and all over the web saying "tranny"..
Here's my issue car drove good for 2-3 years from when i got her. About a year and a half ago she went limp mode on the interstate. Only code I ever pulled was p0730. After resetting she drove fine for months. Then 1 day she went in limp mode in the city around 35-40mph. Reset drives fine. Did this for months and then she started having shifting issues. Ended up buying another civic 97 ex instead of getting it looked at and now am finally getting around to trying to fix my hatch. Shes been sitting for a year but i start it once every 2 weeks and drive it around the block. Ever since it went limp mode in the city its hit and miss if it'll act up. This morning drove completely fine except brakes grinding a bit from sitting. Other times it'll shift hard or not want to engage 1st gear. Feels like the engine is shaking and idles high. I've also noticed it happens more frequent if I let it warm up or sit at a red light. I've drained and filled the tranny 3 times over the course of time but tbh even the original fluid looked good still. Been trying to do as much research as I can but alot of the things I see have different issues that are similar.
My question is should i take it to a shop to have them look at it? Or should I learn a thing or two and try and pull another auto tranny from a scrapyard? (read it could be any 96-00 tranny, Engine is a d16y7).. If the latter would there be any special tools I would need? Would love to swap it to manual but feel that's above my skill level right now. Thank you guys for any input and advice!

Re: P0730 98 auto civic
You could try a junkyard trans, it's always a gamble.
Try to get it from a wrecked car, then you know the car was driving before it ended up there.
You could pull the trans and bring it to a tranny shop for them to rebuild. You will save a lot of the labour costs
