MAJOR Tranny Problem

Yep....... it's finally happened. Transmission gave. I noticed some slippage since I had my tranny fluid changed a couple weeks ago. And all day it was acting sorta funny... and funnier, and funnier. Then as I tried to get on 401W from Yonge Street, it finally did it. The engine reved up like crazy when I floored it, as if it was in neutral... would not downshift properly. Then as I made my way into Allen Rd, it started acting worse. I had to drive back to my gf's house with hazards on, doing 40km/h. That was all I could do. If I pushed any harder, it just revved.

I was actually stuck at one point. I coulnd't go uphill. It would just roll back, and when I hit the gas, it just revved. It was the most embarassing thing that ever happened to me.

It's still covered under warrenty, so I gotta get my car looked at tomorrow. But I am 95% sure I need a new tranny, or a new torque converter. I don't know if the guys who changed my tranny fluid f**ked anything up. Because I noticed the slippage since that afternoon. But it could just be my mind.

I know a lot of people on here has had no troubles at al with their cars, and then there are some who have. All I can say is from my experience, Honda makes krappy *** auto trannies. Toyota & GM makes wicked ones. Durable as hell. My last 91 Corolla... well... let's just say, I abused that car like a $2 ho. But it kept on going. To this day, it's still perfect. In fact, my Civic has given me more headache in 18 months, then my Corolla has in 3 years.

So far, I've had the "gargling" noise... the noise that always comes up when it rains (you can read about the long posts in the other Vehicle Issues section, if it is still stickied). Then I noticed tranny getting a little rougher than usual at 30,000km (heavy clunks on downshifts). Then I had rattles from all over the place. Then I had Check Engine light come on (most likely defective OS2 sensor). And now, this major tranny problem.

I'll have to put up with this car for another couple of years--or at least 1 more year, at the best. I'm not in the financial situation to go in and trade it for something else right away. I highly doubt my next car will be a Honda. Maaaybe the new Accord, depending on the customer feedback. Otherwise, my eyes are set on the new Corolla Sport, or Matrix XRS.
