Brake Vibration - New Rotors & Pads and Drums & Shoes Replaced
Hi all,
A few months ago, I started to notice a slight shudder while braking from highway speeds. Id say it was with light to medium brake apply pressure. Could definitely hear some clunking or ticking or something of the sort in what I thought was the passenger rear. Took a look at the shoes, they were very worn (not evenly by the way) so thought that could be the issue. Bought a power stop kit off of rock auto that I had good luck with on a Ford Edge that we drive as well. New pads, rotors, shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, and calipers (pistons were leaking). After all of that, and breaking them in, the slight shudder/vibration remained. Thought maybe I had a bad rotor from the box, checked runout and I got 0.001 and 0.002 (passenger and driver side). Next thought was suspension. In the last 4 years, I have done inner and outer tie rods, rear adjustable upper control arms, and motor mounts. Jacked up all 4 corners, shook the tires, but didn't notice any odd movements. Looked a little closer today, and it looks like my trailing arm bushings are pretty worn (passenger side really cracked, driver side cracked and partially missing). When I torqued my lug nuts back down, could definitely see an unusual fore/aft shift in the vehicle at the trailing arm bushing joint.
My question is - could these worn bushings be causing a brake "shudder"? If not - is there anything else I should be looking at?

Re: Brake Vibration - New Rotors & Pads and Drums & Shoes Replaced
When you're braking are you feeling the pedal pulsing, varying with vehicle speed? That would indicate warped rotors. I have had a terrible experience with Power Stop. New rotors and pads on the front of my MDX, pulsing in the brake pedal a few months afterwards. Also had a set of rear calipers for my car, parking brake was sticking on both sides randomly. Got a warrantied replacement set, same thing. I'll never buy Power Stop again.

Did you do a brake pad bed-in procedure after the install?
