The gas cap to my 2005 Honda Civic won't open when I push the lever, I've been opening it from the trunk for a while now and it's not really a problem but I still want to fix it. I just finished installing the Dorman Repair Kit where the cable assembly is known to break, but it didn't work. It seemed a little loose and I thought maybe I could zip tie it tighter and maybe that would do something. If that doesn't work what should I do next? Inspect the whole cable? I noticed in the trunk there's a splitter type of device that splits the input cable and sends one to the trunk release and another to the gas cap release, is that known to fail? Any and all options are much appreciated, thanks.

Cable might be broken elsewhere, or the Dorman part might be junk/broken/installed wrong.
I just replaced the cable with a new one from Honda, it wasn't too expensive. Took the opportunity to replace the rear speakers as well since I had 90% of the parts off to get the rear deck off.
