Main't Req Light

Yep... I have a 2003 Civic EX (US) with 8,067 miles on it. I had my oil changed once since i got it. Today when i started my car my Main't Required light flashed for a little and then turned off - and it does it everytime i start my car now. It doesn't stay on though - just flashed for a little - ideas?

Two possibilities.

1.) Change your air filter. It's clogged, and needs to be replaced. If it's a K&N type, clean it.

2.) Standard "pay Honda" light. There is a programmed response in the computer of your car at a certain mileage, the light will come on and you take the car to honda, get the oil changed and they check the brakes, fluids, yada yada yada... and charge you like $50-$100 for it. I think, if you don't wanna do this, there is a DIY for you to turn off the light. I'll try to find it and post it for ya.

Sorry. I looked and I couldn't find the DIY. I might be thinking of something else (SRS light maybe).

Take it to the "stealership", and wear your loose pants. Cause your probably gonna take it up the a$$ with their high prices.

Then you're probably looking at option 2. Sux, but it's the only way to get rid of that dam light. I did it, they don't do much, but what can you do. Unless someone else here knows how to shut off that engine light.

OH MY GOD THE LIGHT IS FLASHING??? What ever you do, DON'T read your owners manual, the owners manual is just for taking up space in your glove box, it has usless information. Infact I'd use it to prop up a wobby table because it has no value.

okay okay I'm joking, but doesn't anyone read the manual anymore? This question has been posted more than 15 times in the past year. There are so many things in the manual that can help you, for example, the wrench in your trunk that can manually close a open Moonroof if the battery goes dead or the electric motor fries.

have you read your manual yet? And you are talking about the maintance required light right? not your check engine light?

If its the Maintance required light it clearly states in your owners manual that the light will flash at 8,000 miles and will stay on constintly after 10,000 miles, "Until you Reset it!"
it also tells you how to reset it, very very easy, it'll take less than 30 seconds.

Read Your Owners Manual lots of good info in there that will help you in the future.

As far as the headlight goes, if it goes out it won't set off a warning light on the dash, make sure it didn't come unplugged somehow.
