2005 Civic HX ECU
2005 Civic HX ECU
I have been told I need a new ECU. It has an item number 37820-PMP-130. Cannot find this exact number anywhere. Does a replacement have to match exactly to function? Or can a similar number be somehow reprogrammed? Started having intermittent issues: No click, start or dashboard lights whatsoever, crank and dashboard lights but no start, idle problems, engine stopping for no reason, loss of power. These are all intermittent, much of the time the car operates normally. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
Re: 2005 Civic HX ECU
Don't quote me on this because it's nothing more than an educated guess, but I would assume that you can put another manual ECU on it, but it will lose it's "HX" qualities of increased fuel economy, and assume the normal role of an LX or DX. Don't take this as completely correct advice, but if you have a local junkyard and can find a functional ECU dirt cheap, I think it might be worth looking into.

Re: 2005 Civic HX ECU
I think the HX have the VTEC, D17A6? - if so an EX ECU could work, not sure.
If you use from a DX/LX, the VTEC will not work
Edit:
the HX had the D17A6
