Hey guys,

I've found that when I start my car and I turn the steering wheel, I hear a sort of noise. It sounds like "gas" going through a pipe, don't think it could be the struts.

After that, driving is normal as usual. It doesn't make the noise anymore until next start up. I checked the Power Steering fluid and it's over the Upper Level line, is that bad?

Anyone else know what could cause the noise? Or is it normal for a Civic to do this?

I experience a sound identical to the one you describe on my 03 Civic EX. It is just at cold startup and seems to be connected to the steering system.

We have an 05 Odyssey which has a very similar sound that occurs exactly the same way - cold start turning the steering wheel.

Have you diagnosed this issue on your civic?

I frequently check all fluids and the PS fluid on both vehicles is fine.

I notice the exact same thing as I turn to head down the driveway after starting cold.

Sounds like a short psshh.

Check the o-ring for leaking in the inlet to the PS reservoir. Common issue. Same deal for the Odysseys.
