2009 grinding noise when turning in both directions

When I park I hear a grinding sound when turning the steering wheel. This happens in both directions and as soon as I turn the wheel. It sounds like dry strut bearings. The car does have 200,000 kms I can't believe the strut bearings are gone already. Any ideas on how to confirm where the noise is coming from ??????

Lift the front of the car off the ground safely. Have someone turn the steering wheel and poke your head around and listen for the sound.
