how to get into nuetral for T.D.C.
ok heres the story
im changing my timing belt and water pump. im using the chilton civic book for my 2002 honda civic ex. im going step by step. so far heres what i have off
-drive belts
-alternator
-power steering pump (cables still attached of coarse)
-motor mount (2x4 under oil pan with hyd jack)
-ignition coils
-head gasket
so now heres where im stuck.
I have to find TDC (top dead center) but I have to shift the car into nuetral! with the alterator out and everything off how do i get the darn car into nuetral? is there a manual way to do it?
hopefully theres an easy way!
thanks

is it auto or manual? i know with autos, there is a lil hole with a cover on top on the shifter that you stick the key in and the shifter will move (gotta pry off the cover first). not sure with manual but im guessing you just press the clutch in and you can move the shifter.

its just a small plastic tab. use a screwdriver to carefully pop it off, then the key sticks straight down until you hear the mechanism click and you can move the shifter like normal.
