AEM V2 Question

Whats the difference between the AEM V2 03 LX/DX version and the 03 EX version? Is it just a fitment issue?

Re: AEM V2 Question

I have no idea but i've been wondering myself. The tab that works as a "perch" for the tube broke off mine. AEM is sending a new one, meanwhile I have a normal AEM CAI I borrowed and put on. I like the normal one better, not as much low end it seems but plenty of high end. I dunno, I could just be off my rocker a bit.

Re: AEM V2 Question

Yea I just put the LX/DX version on my EX and it seems to be a really tight fit around the battery area. Not sure if its like when you install it in the LX/DX? Its a lot louder then when I had my AEM CAI on my car.

Thats how mine is too- the filter touched the battery box right?? Its all good, the filter will be fine.

I thought they were different between auto and manual, not dx/lx and ex... ?? The mounting tab will be the same between dx and lx and ex models, the only difference between them is the exhaust, which isnt in the way at all. Manual and autos may have different mounting tabs, but the transmissions I believe are the same cast outside.

Re: AEM V2 Question

Yea the LX/DX versions have a different product number then the EX versions. So I guess Ill just have to call AEM and see why they did that. I think my filter may touch a little too much on the battery, like its already making marks on the filter. But we shall see once I call.

Re: AEM V2 Question

So I talked to AEM today and there product specialist said that the DX/LX version V2 have a 45 degree turn from the throttle body or something like that and the EX has a 90 degree turn. Which means that the fitment is a little different, which is why mine is pretty tight by the batery. He also said of course that if the LX/DX version is put on the EX there could be a performance decrease rather then a performance increase. So when I have some money I want to get rid of I'll buy the EX version but until then I will just deal with the so called possible "performance decrease".

Re: AEM V2 Question

I just bought an sri today and i got the dx/lx instead of the ex that i need. The guy told me that it doesnt matter but when i looked at the manual the piping has a different orientation. Gonna take it back tomorrow and get the right one. There has to be a difference if AEM decided to make two different models.

for the aem V1, yes the shapes are completely different for ex and lx. i thought the V2 was the same for all models.

Re: AEM V2 Question

No, I know there is at least a difference with the EX and DX/LX, the intake has some kind of different angle coming out of the throttle body.
