do i change trans fluid or flush the trans?

do i change trans fluid or flush the trans?

my girlfriend has a 2001 honda accord i beleive its the EX with 4 cyl and auto tranny she has had the car since around 30k and it has about 70k on it now she said she is noticing it shifting a little hard when its cold and i am wondering if i need to flush all the trans fluid or just drain it drive it drain it drive it etc? i hear sometime flushing the trans fluid is bad. also i might be blind i looked around for a trans dipstick in the engine compartment and couldnt find one any help is appreciated thanks

The usual procedure is just to drain and fill. Check out the haynes manual and see what it says before getting started. Just follow the procedures in there, the fluid probably just needs to be changed.

Just drain and fill, Honda actually states to not FLUSH the system.

arent you supposed to drain it then fill it then drive a short distance and do that 3 times? i thought i remeber hearing that when you drain it that your only draining like 1/3 of the tranny fluid or i could be wrong

^^^^About 1/2 on the Civics, cant say on Accord. The owners manual gives the amounts.

Also only use Honda ATF.
