weird occurance

Driving home from somewhere, down a slight hill my gas gauge all the sudden dropped from 3/4 of a tank to E and the fuel light came on. I pulled over turned it off and then turned it back on and no change. So I went to the nearest gas station and filled it up but only managed like 3 gallons. Looked underneath the car to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with the tank from what i could see. After filling up the gauge went back to normal and I haven't seen it happen again. What could have caused that, and should I possibly be worried about a future problem?

If it happens again, take it to Honda. If you take it now they probably won't be able to replicate it and say everything is ok. could be a glitch in your ECU.

Any resolution to this? The same exact thing just happened to my 2003 Ex Sedan, only it was at 1/4 tank when it happened. I immediately filled it, where it took about 8 gallons, so it really did still have 1/4 tank when it read zero.

Try not to use your gas gauge. Using your trip odometer is much better to get a reading. Usually, 1 tank can get you approx. 280-300mi.
