WTF happened to Honda? I used to have daily beaten Civics that at 150K miles gave me almost no problems. Now I have an 04 with under 700 miles on it an already the tranny isn't working. It's decided I no longer need 1st or 3rd gear so it won't allow me to shift into them. Someone please tell me this car isn't gonna continue giving me problems... or should I run back to Toyota now?

sigh, a lot of us here know that honda has been sorta going down on the quality of their cars lately. however, the trannys on our civics, especially the autos are prone to have problems and die out. you could search the forums and i guarantee you that you'll find at least 20 different posts of people's auto tranny's going to heaven.

K, so I got my car back and now it works great, but the service tech said he didn't do anything to it. He told me I probably just don't know how to drive manual. So I guess the five years I've been driving manuals have all just been one long dream. I think this deserves a great big...

Probably the cable shift linkage stuck. It's crap. I almost paniced when It refused to go into reverse one day. I had to keep shifting back and forth and finally it went in. It's like something blocked the gear. It has been fine since. I know what you mean..... I have been driving stick for 20 years, and average 150K from a clutch! I know how to drive, so Honda can't tell me a fairytale.
