CIVIC HYBRID not starting / blinking D
CIVIC HYBRID not starting / blinking D
Hi !
I have a 2007 CIVIC HYBRID that was sitting for a 4-5 weeks. Before that we used it almost every single day.
It didn't start up right away and I had to charge the battery.
After that it sat again for another 3 weeks. Same thing, had to charge the battery, then it worked.
Now it was sitting for another 4 weeks and charging the battery DID NOT help anymore.
I took the battery out and had it charging for about 24 hours. The car did not start. All electrical devices seem to start working, but it just won't start.
It keeps clicking , the dashboard lights up, and it felt like it wanted to start up twice, but nothing.
On top of that I have a blinking D now.
Any ideas what I can check next, or what it could be ? Please help !

Re: CIVIC HYBRID not starting / blinking D
Usually when the D is blinking it means it doesn't know what gear the trans is in, this will prevent a start. Could be a bad shifter position switch. Try shifting to neutral and starting.
Re: CIVIC HYBRID not starting / blinking D
It helped a little bit :
I am shifting to N and then the car is doing a little bit more : there is clicking (solenoid ok ?) and it sounds like the starter is turning once. I think it is about to start up, but it just won't do it.
I put the battery on a charger again, and also had an emergency starter (50amps) on it; but nothing. It just sounds like it is about to start.
What would be good next troubleshooting steps ?
Re: CIVIC HYBRID not starting / blinking D
Fully charge the battery before trying again. You could also try jump starting using another car, your 50 amp emergency starter likely isn't enough to start with a dead battery.
