Hi,

I am new to the forum so please vear with me.

Have a 2008 civic hybrid saloon - I think this makes it 2nd generation.

Accidentally left sun flat light on which drained battery completely. Had the 12v battery checked amd seems to be slightly poor condition.

Can I use a Ctek trickle charger on the battery in situ or will this interfere with IMA??

Can hybrids have their 12v batteries charged in situ with a Ctek trickle charger?

Car battery completely died - slightly poor condition. Hoping it's this that is problem and not hybrid battery as dash cluster shows battery with full charge

If the 12v battery went dead, simply trickle charge it with a normal battery charger.

After charging, have it tested.
If bad, replace it. It's an ordinary 12v car battery, although it's usually quite small in many of the hybrids.
If there is room for a regular size car battery in the tray, feel free to install whatever size will fit.

Do not turn the key on or attempt to start the engine while the charger is attached and running, the electronics in the hybrid cars can 'freak out' because of voltage surge and cause all sorts of trouble codes in many of the on board computer systems.

You can also use regular jumper cables and another car or battery in standard fashion if you need to get it running ASAP.
Safest way would be to connect the cables but not have the other car running when you try to start yours. If the other car is running when you try to start your car, the electronics can 'freak out' and set all sorts of codes.
