When i shift to gear 4 and 5 my lever pulls out back to nuetral
Hello please i have a challenge with my 08 civic, when i shift from gear 1 - 3, my gear shifter stays in place but once i shift to 4 its pulls right out immediately. What can i do to fix this problem?

So.. there are a few things that can contribute to this.
1) Gear synchros. Worn synchros can cause gear popping out issues. Hardest and most expensive fix because it requires a teardown of the transmission.
2) Worn motor mounts could possibly attribute to this. The common motor mount that goes out is the passenger side on the 8thgens, but that's opposite side of the engine bay as the trans. Mid-cost since motor mounts can be like $150+ for one of quality and/or OEM. I guess it could be cheap if you got some poly motor mount inserts, but that could possibly introduce a level of NVH (noise/vibration/harshness) that you may not want to deal with.
3) Doing a manual trans fluid change can be a band-aid fix, and sometimes last a while. I had 2nd gear popping out issues on my 2002 civic, and a trans fluid change fixed it for at least a solid 100k. I also fixed my worn out trans-side motor mount at the same time, so it was a 2 birds, one stone sorta deal. I really didn't feel like tearing down a transmission. Possibly cheapest fix, and if the trans fluid has never been changed, likely long overdue anyways.
