Swapping a non vtec engine into a vtec car
Swapped a non vtec engine into a manual 03 civic ex car. other than changing the ECU, do i have to do anything different? thought process says i wouldnt have to change the harness, as those pins likely just wont be used by the new ecu.

Why?
did you blow up the other engine?
Way less of a headache to just put the non VTEC block in and put the VTEC head on the new block.
Or buy the proper engine and put that in.
You'll have to change the ecu and get it programmed for the car to start, unless you want to drive around in limp mode all the time

Other engine died due to timing issues. Got a good deal on a lower mileage non-vtec motor. Have new ECU for a MT non vtec DX, and have someone to code the ECU for the immobilizer etc.

Is the ecu for the same year? They changed from a normal primary o2 sensor to a fancy a/f sensor in 04
