Turbo causing A/C to not work
One of the A/C lines passes approximately 1" away from the bend in my downpipe as it is exiting the turbo. Over the past 2 years, I've been noticing my A/C didn't get as cold as the year before (which is normal - I guess) but this season I've put the turbo on, and now it only blows hot air. Is this because the heat of the downpipe screwed up the freon or whatever's in there (and recharging is only a temporary solution)?
Or is it that simply my higher engine tempertures are just making the stock A/C system ineffective to cool the air enough? ...and recharge or not it still wouldn't work?
It sucks driving 30 miles home every day and its 97º out with 80% humidity and no A/C.

Check the pressure in the AC lines, make sure you have refrigerant in there and the system isnt leaking. Check the compressor, make sure its working.
You can wrap the DP to keep it cooler, but I dont think thats gonna matter, the AC is probably unrelated to the turbo.

Re: Turbo causing A/C to not work
So you're saying the refrigerant wouldn't be affected by the heat? I mean - I like good news - it's just that I've had so much bad luck so far I halfway expect someone to tell me I blew it up again... LOL.
Re: Turbo causing A/C to not work
if recharging ur system only works temporarily its probably got something to do with the compressor. that refrigerant stuff is pretty cold. thats what happend to my moms old buick. that refrigerant was a temprary fix...even though its suppose to work good for a long time. it was the compressor....and if i were u...(i dont have turbo and i probably never will) if my turbo is close to any lines or cables or whatever...id wrap it up. but thats just me..

you blew it up again, sorry
j/k i had the same problem with mine after i turboed. never quit got the same cold air as before. at one point i did have a hole in my ac condensor that slowly leaked the coolant out. just get a mechanic to put dye in your system to check. the problem is sometimes the leak may be hidden cuasing you to remove your bumper to find it.

Re: Turbo causing A/C to not work
I dont thing it is the issue with turbo heating up a/c lines. Mt dounpipe is just 1/4 in away from aluminum a/c pipes. A/C blows cold. I dont even think heat from the turbo affects it much.
I'd check a/c lines, a/c clutch and then a/c compressor. Mostlileky you have a leak of some sort.
