Power steering solution needed
Power steering solution needed
Hello all,
My power steering was leaking (2004 DX Canada), and I found the return pipe rusted near the connection with the rubber hose. I have a new pipe ready, but I believe a previous owner has stripped the nut on the pressure hose (need to remove to access the return nut). Even my flare nut wrench doesn't seat well, and with the limited working room, the nut doesn't move, even after 24+ hours of soaking with penetrating oil.
So I have a few options for this issue and would like some advice to best solve it. I could:
a) cut the pressure pipe at the nut to put a socket and hope that works, thus requiring a new pressure assembly as well, and if it doesn't even work, well now I'm extra screwed
b) use some bonding putty on the rusted pipe
c) other??
I am no plumber and at best an amateur occasional DIYer so let me know if the bonding putty is the stupidest thing you've ever heard. Constructive ideas also welcome

Re: Power steering solution needed
Lots of heat and more penetrating fluid. Socket would be best, vice grips are another option
