Tie rod lock nut keeps coming loose. Please help!
Tie rod lock nut keeps coming loose. Please help!
I have a 2004 Civic ex. Its stock but refreshed. The outer tie rod end links are new the inners are not. My problem is that the lock nut thats on the inner tie rod that locks into the outer keeps coming loose somehow. Ive noticed that when I'm backing up with the wheel turned it feels like steering is rolling over on itswlf, then the steering is loose and sure enough I go under the car and the nut is loose. Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix it?

My first guess would be the metal is coated with something slippery.
Loosen the nut back a lot, spray heck out,of everything with carb cleaner. Let dry, spray again, put few drops red threadlock on the threads and should be good.

Got a picture pointing out the exact problem area?
If you mean the big (15/16") locknut that gets loosened to adjust toe, usually someone just didn't get it tight enough.
