Tie Rod End question

I bought a new tie rod end. When I screw it on all the way it uses all the tread on the on tie rod. On the left side, there is some tread left behind the tie rod end. So what’s the deal? Is it the wrong part and its too long? Or should i try to match it to the left and tighten it with the other screw (Part #16) behind the tie rod end. If I use it, will it not mess up the steering position (don’t know the word for it, it not alignment…but something else) If so can it be fixed?

so you've done this before huh?? you took the old end off and you didn't mark or count the threads required to do so? Just put it on as close to straight (once tires are mounted). Then get an alighnment ASAP, because obviously you don't know how to do your own.

Lol. Oh brother, okay Mr, yes sir! Again, i have changed the struts twice, anyone can do that, i just never had this prob or delt with tie rod end, never said i have done that b4.

I counted the treads based on the left one and tried to match it and guess by looking at wheel, like you said, it turned out about the same as it has been, the wheel is off a little by the right when going straight. If I get an alignment, wouldn’t I still have to move the tie rod end to fix it? I thought an alignment at a shop only regarded the wheel angle, not the steering wheel position matched with the wheels direction.

You need a wheel alignment, it will also straighten the steering wheel. Alignment should be done after any and ALL suspension changes including the struts

tie rod ends are not meant to be screwed all the way in. you gotta get a alignment and see how many degrees its off. then they /you gotta loosen it until it matches the OEM specs

even if you mark where the old tie rod ends were, and then put new ones on, it will never be aligned. put them on, then take it to an alignment shop.
