Cannot adjust toe

My son hit something When try to adjust the toe. Steering wheel is way off 45-90 degrees with outer tie rods maxed. Toe is almost correct like this. There is also a clunk when turning. I replaced one strut it looked ok. Replaced both lower control arms. Worn bushings right now I've taken out both tie rods. They look ok what should I try to fix it. 2003 ex coupe

Re: Cannot adjust toe

Figure out what else got bent.

Here's a few things to look at:

strut tower sheetmetal
strut
knuckle
tie rod end
tie rod
lower control arm
subframe

The strut tower sheet metal sounds like it. One mechanic said it was the strut. But replaced it. Didn't help. Thanks I'll have to get a photo and compare mine mount to a good one

If using junkyard parts, they may be no better than what you already had...unless you know for sure the car they came from was undamaged.

have to get a photo and compare
You have an undamaged good side of the car to use as a template or guide.

A tape measure and lots of measuring can usually help figure out if it's been moved if the damage is significant.

However, sometimes when something is only tweaked by a few millimeters, it can very difficult to find without specialized help.

Even after the parts are removed from the car and compared against a brand new part sometimes it's almost impossible to see a miniscule difference.....

but once the car is on the alignment rack the difference can be seen in the alignment angles.

Knowing the speeds, angles and forces involved with the hit is a big help for me when trying to figure out what all could have been affected by the impact. Helps me visualize what happened and which parts would most likely have suffered damage.
