cant figure out clunking noise
hello guys i been having a clunking sound coming from the front of the car for about 2 months already. sounds like its coming the suspension and i can feel it clunk on my feet while im driving. only happens when when the car tilts forward and back as i take off or start braking and sometimes when i go over a bump too. it sounds more from the right side than left but always varies sides. i havent been able to figure it out i already changed the strut mounts, control arm bushings, lower ball joints, and tie rod ends. any help and suggestions would be appreciated thanks
Re: cant figure out clunking noise
Have someone start your car leave it in park and have them rev it upnand see what the motor does if it is moving back and forth as your friend revs the car you need motor mounts. Oh yeah forgt to mention pop your hood as he rev and stand next to the fender much safer than standing in front of your car

@yikes and dubtee, i just checked the motor/transmission mounts and they look good.
@marek ill take a look at those and i replace them with oem ones from the dealer this weekend. but could the sway bar end links really make that lound clunk?

Re: cant figure out clunking noise
You can try and tighten them, see if that makes the noise go away. To check for play in the joint, you can grab the sway bar near the end link and move it up and down... any play is too much. Both sides need to be unloaded when you do this so both wheels need to be up or down, don't jack up only one side. You can also just remove the end links and sway bar (or tie it up so the ends of the bar don't drag) and take it around the block really quick. Not advisable for every day driving but if the noise goes away when you take it for a quick spin you'll know it's the end links.

Re: cant figure out clunking noise
Also if it's a 7th Gen... once you fix this noise, another will randomly appear
I've fixed several clunks in the rear like sway bar endlinks, exhaust rattles, and malfitting suspension bits, but I've never had a noise in the front so I'm not much of a help

Re: cant figure out clunking noise
I'd never heard the term before lowlife mentioned them yesterday, but googling "compliance bushings" make it seem like a likely possibility (and a Honda-specific term for lower control arm bushing)

Google compliance bushing and you'll get a few images of what you're looking for damage wise.
