Clutch pedal stays on floor 1st and reverse
Clutch pedal stays on floor 1st and reverse
Heya, 2005 Hinda Civic EX SE.
First let me say, brand new Master, slave, and new braided line running between. I have scoured for leaks, and reservoir is full, fluid clear. Nothing. Replaced 4 months ago. Been running great since.
Tonight, outta the blue the clutch pedal stayed on the floor in 1st and would not come back up. Had to use my foot to bring it back up. If I can get it into 2nd it will shift fine thru the rest until I need to come to a stop then the pedal will drop again and stay and stall. It will also drop in reverse and stall on stop. With the car off. the clutch pedal id fine, full motion, no staying on the floor. Seems to be the downshift from 2nd into 1st and reverse only. Any thoughts on this is appreciated, Thanks.
Side note clutch was replaced 2 years ago.

Re: Clutch pedal stays on floor 1st and reverse
It does sound like there could potentially be an issue with the clutch hydraulics if the pedal is dropping like that only in certain gears. A few things I would check - bleed the clutch line again to make sure no new air has gotten in, check the fluid level and condition, and take a look at the slave cylinder to see if it's leaking internally at all.
Re: Clutch pedal stays on floor 1st and reverse
Can't see any leaks anywhere, and the reservoir is clear. But when I went to bleed, I pulled straight black outta the line, which I had completely clear 4 months ago when I replaced the whole system. Going to assume that the new slave failed on me?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Clutch pedal stays on floor 1st and reverse
I had nothing about only 1st and reverse having the issue, but a quick google search showed me a lot of other people having that issue (on varying platforms). The general consensus for a fix, regardless of platform, was replacing the master.
