Clutch Pedal Problems
Clutch Pedal Problems
I did a quick search of the forums and couldnt find the answer, or maybe I missed it.
I have an 01 vic EX 5spd Manual. The clutch pedal has recently been giving me problems. When I push the pedal in to disengage the clutch the disengage point seems to change almost every time. When I start it in the morning when its about 35 degrees outside, the disengage point is closer to the floor. If I drive for a five miles or so the disengage point starts to move farther up until its near the point where the clutch is slipping and the pedal barely needs to be pushed to disengage the clutch.
Any suggestions? Bad Master/Slave Cylinder? Lines need to be bleed?
Thanks guys.

Re: Clutch Pedal Problems
Would that explain why when the clutch warms up that its at almost a constant point of having the clutch disengaged?
The clutch is extremely hard and its at this friction point of constantly slipping when it really warms up.
I'm going to double check it for leaks this weekend. The fluid level on the master cylinder is perfect. Could air bubbles in the line cause this?

Re: Clutch Pedal Problems
just a guess but,
it sounds like "hot spots" on the clutch causing it to slip...
its slipping that’s why it engages in different spots...

Nah, I gave up and lived with it unless someone else comes up with the answer. Changing the clutch cylinder or the clutch would be too expensive and not required yet.

Re: Clutch Pedal Problems
I would be willing to bet if the shift fork and throwout bearing sliding surface on the transmission where greased the problem would go away. The only problem is that you have to drop the trans to do it. My Bro's 01 civic is doing the same thing so we are gonna check the clutch and grease all that stuff at the same time.

Re: Clutch Pedal Problems
Just wanted to drop an update. I think I have solved my clutch problem. Seemed like the hydraulic pressure was building up too much. So i adjusted the clutch pedal a bit and backed it up slightly. The problem seems to have gone away.
