01 lx 4dr - need help

Hi,

I was working on my car a few weeks ago, and shorted something out.

Anyways my gauge cluster and the climate controls no longer light up when I turn my head lights on.

I checked basic fuses, although I could've missed one.

Any help is appreciated!

Check "small light" fuse in under-hood fuse box.

Did the work involve the audio system headunit ??
If aftermarket installed check the illumination connections.

Are the taillights and marker lamps working o.k. ??

Have you smelled anything with a burning odor when the short occured or since then ??

The dimmer circuit is contained in the gauge cluster on 7th generation models.

Re: 01 lx 4dr - need help

Its been awhile since i've been able to get back to this.. But yes my turn signals and head and tail lights both work fine.

I know what caused it, I plugged in the hazard switch, while the car was running with too high of a fuse.

I currently don't have any head unit installed.

Where exactly is the "dimmer circuit" located ?

Thanks for the help, its really hard to see at night =)!

The hazard switch has an illumination bulb but... ? Seems strange to have effected that circuit.

Most of the system for the illumination is inside of your gauge cluster.

Yeah I agree, I just know thats when it happened.

So do you know if there is a fuse inside the gauge cluster?

A small value soldered in or pico fuse is always a possibility.

Can't say for sure. None are shown in the schematic.

Hmm.. do you know if the pico fuse in the hazard switch is shown in the schematic you're referring to?

Cause I know theres on there.. So if thats unmarked I would imagine there is a good chance there is one in the gauge cluster.

Thanks for the help, I need to figure this out! I just swapped to LEDs in my climate control and don't get to see the pretty lights yet!

None are shown in the hazard switch Only the switch contacts and the illumination bulb are shown. (it could be a diode)

Sweeeet.

Alright well i've been strongly considering changing to a red colored gauge cluster.

I suppose i'll pick up an 02+ coupe cluster, and let you know if the problems still there, after I swap.

Thanks again for all the help.
