2005 lx special edition p0962
2005 lx special edition p0962
I have a 2005 civic special edition with 132000mi.
The transmission was shifting normally through all gears.
Then one day, while accelerating around traffic, I noticed that the car was not in low gear and seemed to accelerate slowly. I didn’t notice any CEL, but I was only a few blocks from home. Next day my wife tried to drive the car, but said she could barely drive it back into the driveway and the CEL was on. I read the codes which were P0962. Also, the D light was flashing. When I test drove the car I had to start in 2 then shift to 3 then into D but when I stopped it would stay in D.
Since this code indicates “Pressure control solenoid “A” control circuit low”, I went to the Honda dealer and ask for a replacement “A” solenoid. (I told it is the one on top of the torque converter ).
I replaced the solenoid, erased the code, checked the fluid was full started the engine and warmed the engine to normal temperature, shifting through all the gears. No code came up so I test drove around the local area and the car drove through all the gears as normal. Acceleration was normal shifting was normal with no flares.
Next day I started the car and CEL and D flashing.
Were is the “A” solenoid? Is this low pressure or voltage?
Has anyone had/solved this issue?
Thanks

Re: 2005 lx special edition p0962
Did you check the transmission fluid level as described in the owner's/service manual? Something along the lines of start the engine, ideally warmed up to operating temperature, shift through the gears, shut off the engine, check fluid level after waiting ~60 seconds.

Thanks for the reply!
yes. I warmed the engine until the fan came on twice. Then I shut down and check the fluid (DW-1) level. I added a small amount until it was full.
